On September 14 the Cultural Season will kick off at the Vrijhof Culture Center with three feature performances.
Painter Anneke Wilbrink's exhibition will open at 4:30pm with traditional Irish music. Her paintings are a combination of architecture and nature, and her works are on display in Amsterdam, Maastricht and London. Anneke won the Dutch Royal Prize for Painting in 2006 and has received several nominations for Prix de Rome.
Winner of the Broodje Cultuur Public Award 2009, geRRIT, who now goes by the name of Gooseberry, will perform More Homeless Songs. They played in the Amphitheater before where they received a high rating from the audience. This time they will be playing an evening of music, fronted by songwriter and guitarist Gerrit de Boer. His last band, Jamesz, won the Dutch Jazz Competition in 2000 and played several times at the North Sea Jazz Festival.
