Student funds declining

Though there is a rise in student numbers, the money given to Dutch universities from the government has not increased in proportion. De Volkskrant reports the amount per student has decreased since the mid-1990s by 10 percent. According to a spokesperson from the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU), this is worse when compared to the 1980s when the budget allocation per student was 40 percent higher.
