This month, JazzPodium Drienerlo presents a special double concert, featuring two talented young groups, including the winner of the prestigious Dutch Jazz Competition 2008, The Blazin' Quartet. With a line-up including three musicians of Balkan descent, it comes as no surprise that the quartet’s music reveals Eastern European influences. The rhythmical richness of Balkan music is delicately applied, while the use of effects and samples give the melodies a peculiar color.
The traditional jazz trio, The Black Napkins, will also perform on this evening, bringing together three musicians on drums, trumpet and guitar.
