The film NAGABONAR features a pickpocket who has seized the opportunity to declare himself a general in the Freedom Forces during the chaos at the end of the Japanese occupation in 1945, as the Dutch attempted to reassert their control over the area.
The film Denias is a drama based on a true story about the real struggle of a boy named Denias, who came from Aroanop, a small village located in the Jayawijaya Mountain in western Papua Island.
Ayat-Ayat Cinta is a romantic religious film, which is based on the best-selling novel with the same title by Habiburrahman El Shirazy. The story is actually based in Cairo, Egypt. The film is a beautifully portrayed story of Islamic love - a tale of a virtuous Muslim protagonist who overcomes all of life's obstacles by maintaining pure ideals.
