Learn academic writing in English

| Redactie

Academic Writing in English, a course created by the Taalcoördinatiepunt (TCP), is now open for registrations. It is a course for people who have a good command of English, but want to improve their academic writing. Participants will acquire knowledge and skills, which will enable them to write confidently in English in a variety of academic styles. Lessons include everything from grammatical concepts and punctuation use to revision processes and academic vocabulary. Students will not be bored by things they already know: they will be quickly assessed, and all material and exercises offered aim for maximum learning. Individual feedback is a major part of the course. Previous students' writing improved dramatically after just three weeks, and one student exclaimed, `Finally, I learned what is right and wrong instead of just guessing.'

The lessons begin in February and continue for sixteen weeks; there is one session per week. Of course there is weekly written homework. However, students can work on academic texts being written for other purposes, for example, thesis documents. Current students all stated that they would recommend this course, someone even declaring that “the course should be compulsory.” See the TCP website for more information www.utwente.nl/tcp.
