Here is a collection of phrases to listen for on the UT campus.
Bastille
The heartbeat of student - and association life at Twente, where you can find the Student Union, the blue and red counters, the residents council, the Union Bar, Union Shop and restaurant the Stek.
Batavierenrace or Bata
The yearly, incredibly enjoyable relay race from Nijmegen to Enschede, which is topped with one of the largest student parties of the year. Eight thousand students compete. Usually the next-to-last Saturday in April. A must for every UT student.
Campus geese
The name says it all: the regular avian visitors of the campus. Favorite places to stay: Checkpoint Charlie roundabout (entrance to the campus), `Ganzenveld' (Geese field, what else to expect there?) or somewhere along Drienerlolaan.
Casper
In everyday jargon, this is the name of the campus supermarket. For all your last-minute shopping and more.
De Muur
The more you drink, the better the deep-fried delights from De Muur taste.Situated on the Oude Markt.
Pakkerij
If you have followed the introductory program, you have probably seen this building already, but the Pakkerij is where the four biggest student associations are housed: Taste, Audentis, Alpha and AEGEE.
Nightrider
Also known as the Night Bus. This bus ferries students - especially inebriated ones - from the city center to the campus on Thursday nights.
VB
Care for a beer? The VB, or Vestingbar, is nearly always open for the thirsty. Located in the Bastille on the side near the soccer fields.
