The report of the visitation committee considers the results in Twente to be better than the one at the University of Amsterdam and Leiden University: both score an 8 and share second place. The University of Nijmegen and the Free University follow with respectively a 7.8 and a 7.7. Utrecht manages to get a 7.4, but Groningen is bottom of the list with a 6.7.
Two TO-professors, prof. dr. W.J. van der Linden and prof. dr. J. Scheerens both go into the national top-7 with a mark of 9 for their research. Van der Linden earned his high mark with research into the technical side of exams. A part of this is developing computer simulations for testing exams or selection procedures, before they are used in reality. Foreign exam organisations regularly do tests at TO. The visitation committee calls the work of the TO-researchers 'one of the most important contributions in Europe and the United States' to this field. The report also praises the quality of the published handbooks, the software that was developed, and the individual merits of the - frequently publishing - researchers.
