'The General Meeting of the Student Trade Union SRD has decided to appoint a new executive committee, which has the task to prepare the decision to dissolve the society.' Making SRD-daughters like the Student Support Group, the RSI-working group and HoBiHe, the society promoting integration of homo-, bi- and heterosexuals, independent or accommodating them somewhere else is part of dissolving the union.
'This tough decision has not been taken lightly', according to the three administrators left; they saw themselves forced to extend their terms with almost half a year. 'We have held full discussions on the role of the SRD in the past few years and the developments at the UT.' Not being able to find successors got the discussion going on the purpose and benefits within the union.
The committee names as the main causes of the decreased attraction diminishing activism and the rise of the Student Union, which 'came into SRD territory in a number of areas'. The union emphasises that the abolition has nothing to do with a lack of topics. On the contrary. 'Closing the Medical Centre, heartbeat plans of the Executive Board, and the messy introduction of for example bachelor-master, show that an active student trade union has enough work.' But it also takes active students to do the work.
