To celebrate International Women's Day, Studium Generale and Female Faculty Network Twente are organizing a provocative symposium about Dutch culture, Dutch habits and Dutch women.
For Dutch women and men the Dutch way of life has a self-evident flavor. Rather different is the situation of students and researchers from foreign countries. They often encounter unfamiliar socio-political customs and unclear rules of conduct. This symposium sheds international light on typical Dutch habits by focusing on Dutch women. The Dutch woman is discussed by four international UT-researchers. How do they see the Dutch women? What strikes them, what are they impressed by? And what do they think about the `gender battle' of the Dutch women? The panel consists of: Sonia Heemstra de Groot (Argentina), Anke Kohl (Germany), Yanyan Xue (China) and Yulia Bachvarova (Bulgaria). Margaret Skutsch (English, female) and Peter Timmerman (Dutch, male) moderate the debate.
Researchers and students from all countries of the world, including the Netherlands, are wholeheartedly welcome and is their active participation in the discussion. English will be the language of this symposium.
