Digital survey

The Student Union and PITS will conduct a survey regarding internationalization at the UT. Using a digital survey, international students can communicate their problems and needs. In addition, student organizations will be questioned about the extent of their internationalization.

According to Janine Rebel of the Student Union, the study is greatly needed: `An overall look at the scope of internationalization of student organizations is sorely lacking. We also would like to know what issues international students encounter. They come to us fairly often with questions.' Although internationalization ranks high on the Student Union's agenda, Rebel admits that the topic has become a top priority as a result of the monthly lunch with the rector earlier this month. On that occasion, international students openly vented their frustrations to Rector Zijm. Rebel declares, `Now we have to let them know that something is really being done to address these issues.'

The study - developed by a student in communication science - consists of two different surveys. Rebel explains, `We ask about the needs and wishes of international students in order to map out points that need to be improved. From student clubs, we want to know how internationally oriented they are. For example, is their website in English? Do they have any international members? If yes, how do the clubs deal with them? Last week the Student Union sent out the digital survey. The reaction time is two weeks. Then, we will interpret the results and look at what steps should be taken to improve the internationalization standards at the UT.'
