German culture is characterized by hierarchy
`Love your neighbor as thyself' - this is an old adage. In this material world, it is rather difficult to go by it. So, it makes perfect sense to modify this adage to `Know your neighbor as thyself'. For the people of the Netherlands, their neighbors, the Germans, mean more than just `people from across the border.' If one probes deep into history, many similarities between these two countries become evident, not the least in their language. But then, there are also differences aplenty. Let us restrict ourselves to the differences encountered in the professional arena.
