PENTARACE. De Sportraad organiseerde afgelopen woensdagmiddag de zogeheten Pentarace, een wedstrijd met vijf onderdelen (zwemmen, hardlopen, steppen, skeeleren en kanoën) voor meer en minder fanatieke deelnemers, meest studenten. Eenentwintig estafetteteams en tien individuen werkten zich in het zweet, zoals deze fanatieke stepper.

Close Harmony Choir

Supergeleiders halen grotere stromen dankzij nieuwe vinding

Dankzij een betere koppeling tussen supergeleidende kristallen kan de stroom in een hoge temperatuur supergeleider flink omhoog. Fabricage van supergeleidende kabels wordt er bovendien een stuk eenvoudiger door. Onderzoekers van de Universiteit Twente en de Universität Augsburg presenteren deze week in het blad Nature een nieuwe vinding die een doorbraak betekent voor de praktische toepassing van supergeleiders.

KPN en Lucent maken radiocontact

Met de installatie van een tweetal Orinoco WavePoint systemen is een wireless verbinding operationeel tussen de vestigingen van KPN Research Twente en Lucent Bell Labs Twente.
